NEWS FROM THE CENTER FRIDAY DIGEST September 3, 2021 - Breathtaking Absurdity
Our Constitution begins with basic rights, first among them the free exercise of religion. That is to say, the government must recognize that it is not the highest priority in our lives, nor do we owe to it our highest allegiance. After that, in the First Amendment, comes freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Now these rights are under assault from the likes of moguls, billionaire titans who run social media as if their own publishing house. When we look at Twitter and Facebook, we see that our problem is not simply Marxism, but a kind of fascism in which there is collusion between D.C. and the Fortune 500, and in which Big Tech becomes the enforcement arm of the federal government and the elite culture.
The absurdity of this is breathtaking. A florist in Washington, a baker who works out of a strip mall in suburban Denver become the targets of a Woke Elite with money and lawyers enough to search and destroy any and all resistance, no matter how low on the totem pole. What this also shows, though, is the basic truth that the Lie cannot withstand the Truth. Questions may not be asked, nor other points of view offered. We saw this long ago with Planned Parenthood. Go to their website, and look for a video showing the growth of a child in the womb. They care about parenthood, right? Well, of course, they won't show it. No ultrasound pictures allowed. For the lie to stand, the truth must be muzzled. So also, why do they not tell you about drugs and surgery involved in the transgender movement?
What lies ahead of us is a battle for the soul of our nation . . . The days of generic cookie cutter candidates must come to an end. We need new thinking, a way of governance that recognizes that the government is not all in all, nor is big business. Leaders who recognize the rights of those whom the elite frown upon, who are willing to take on government schools, and assert parental rights. Leaders who are able to say no to the who push CRT. Leaders who are not taken in by the salary, prestige, and per diem. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

“God has put us in our roles as life-affirming Lutherans in this place at this time. We must continue despite the world’s resistance. We must lean on God because He will support us. We must remember He has the words of eternal life!” --Virginia Flo, regional director of Minnesota and National Conference Director, Lutherans For Life
