The Loving Option Of Adoption?

Not so fast, says an AP article on the front page of our Journal Gazette. To be sure, adoption "is a choice commended by many foes of abortion." And really, adoption is hard. Many women who give birth end up wanting to play the role of mom. "The reason, say people familiar with unintended pregnancies, is that even in those circumstances, a powerful bond is likely to form between the mother-to-be and the developing baby -and to vastly complicate any decision to put the newborn up for adoption."

Now, how do you like that? When, supposedly, does the "mother-to-be" become the mother? At birth? What is this "developing baby" of which they speak? Is that a baby in the womb? Then it's a baby? Or is it strangely still not a full baby once born? To those who argue that a woman could give birth and offer the child up for adoption, we are told, rather obliquely, "It's just not the reality"? Huh? Why?

You see, it's best to dehumanize the child. Otherwise, we might have to think about what we are doing. And, sure, a child would, through adoption, have a shot at life, but you the mother-to-be might have hurt feelings. And so we read, "It's not going to be an emotion-free bonding and connection, and a sense that it's an unnatural act to give your child away." But somehow, it is a natural act to poison the child, cut up the limbs, and crush the head, and then to place the baby parts in the trash.

And, for those of you keeping score, go to the Planned Parenthood website, and search for all they have to say about adoption. The sound of crickets can be deafening.

Oh, and as a punctuation mark on the fact that these people have lost their minds and are left babbling incoherently, we are told, "Your choices about your body, health, and family are nobody's business but your own." This year, join me in praying that more people would recognize that the baby, too, has a body all her own! Lord, have mercy.

The Lord called all things into being, from the greatest to the least, with His mighty mere Word. But He formed the human bodies with His own fingers and His very breath. He lovingly, intimately, and meticulously knits us together in our mothers’ wombs.
