Abortion ruins everything

Indiana has passed a law that does much to restrict abortion, though it is far, far from perfect. Admittedly, I do not have a real grasp on whether the new legislation is decidedly good, a step in the right direction, or something else.

But now I would like to talk about something else, and that is the way the legislation was spoken about on the House and Senate floor. And it seemed to me as if our side was not fully prepared, or perhaps that we appeared too apologetic, playing too much the role of beta male. That is to say, it seems like we were too willing to concede ground on a basic premise. The pro-abortion party presented their case in such a way as to say abortion is good in certain circumstances. That is, abortion may not be optimal, but it helps solve any number of problems.

Supposedly, abortion, the killing of a child, has the power to take away the sting of rape or incest. Supposedly, a rapist would be rewarded with fatherhood if the child were allowed to live. What kind of logic is that? Then there were the children diagnosed with fetal anomalies. Supposedly, abortion could mend the heart of moms (is that the right word here?) who would no longer have to deal with the distress of a child that has health issues, a child that if born might not live long thereafter.

But abortion makes nothing better. Abortion makes things worse. Now, we rejoice that abortions will be done in hospitals. Ok. But then, does this mean that hospitals will be in the business of ending lives? Ending even healthy lives? Think of that as children seeking an early inheritance. And I thought that the Woke movement actually spoke against ableism, the idea that a person with physical handicaps should not have a place at the societal table.

Yes, abortion ruins everything. It not only stops a beating heart, but it turns our own hearts cold. You could see that so clearly in the faces of the protestors. We speak about a society run by greed, and yet we say that unless we have abortion, some will be worse off economically? We speak about a society in which the powerful rule over those who have no power or voice, and yet we exert our power over little ones who are defenseless? We speak about how minority groups are overlooked, and yet we applaud an industry that has long targeted African Americans?

But then this also gets to some bigger issues, some brought up during the marriage debate, issues that flow from the sexual revolution. Dysfunction begets dysfunction, and societal failure is a cycle, a ball that gains momentum as it goes downhill. What is so often lacking in the case of abortion is the dad, the father, the husband, the grandfather, the natural ties that bind us to one another, so that no one is alone. The government may write you a check, but the government will never love you. Love begins in the home and family, and that's where we must rebuild. And I guess the first person we start with is the man in the mirror.

There are indeed many problems, but abortion solves none of them. It just makes things worse. For all of us.

We are not just persons, but male and female, created for life with God and one another, according to the design that He has set in creation itself. We have human identity as male and female. The very structure of humanity is heterosexual in nature. Life itself is disordered and finally rendered impossible when this structure is denied.
