Their name is legion

We are living in a culture that has been inhabited by the demons. We see it starkly in the abortion movement, where slogans such as "My Body, My Choice" are substitutes for rational thought. The demonic is clearly evidently in the plural pronouns where he or she become they, where no one is able to answer so simple a question as "What is a woman?"

Our Lord still has the power to set us straight, that we might think clearly, with the mind of Christ. He did so for the Gerasene demoniac, and He does so today. But now, as then, most people don't want to have anything to do with it. They know our Lord is powerful, know He can drive out the demons, and yet they stay away from the Lord, and they do not welcome those who speak the truth in His name. This is strange indeed, but we can understand.

The people of Gerasene know that the Lord is powerful to save, but they don't want the controversy that comes with it. They know abortion takes an innocent life, and they can tell the difference between a girl and a boy, but they would rather not make any waves. They recognize the truth, but would rather go on with the lives, would rather not have the Lord upset their apple carts, even if it would mean life eternal.

The demoniac was inhabited by legion, the mindless demons that make us mindless. And this sort of stuff is promoted by those who push abortion and the gender madness. But then, on the other side, there is too little opposition. For many see Christ and His power, they hear His truth, and they are afraid of losing their ordinary lives, and they beg Jesus, and any who would speak in His name, to go away.

Be Encouraged

How sweet it is to have gathered around Jesus and learn again, or maybe learn for the first time, how He loves you and me. And He promises nothing is ever going to break this circle, ‘…neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 8:38b-39).
