Religious bodies of America

When your kid goes off to elementary, middle, or high school, he will meet all sorts of people. And he may be influenced by them and end up doubting his Lutheran faith and becoming Presbyterian or Roman Catholic, though it's highly unlikely.

What's far more likely is that your child will become captive to America's fastest growing religion, aptly called Woke, often identified by DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion). That's the religion that's passed like a contagion and promoted on their phones. In fact, that religion is being promoted at many historically Christian schools. Now, some will say that they are promoting an enlightenment within Christianity, though this is the game of the deceivers and the deceived.

The Woke worldview is all encompassing. How do you know that? How can you test the theory? How many DEI ministers, officers if you like, will say that marriage is between one man and one woman, and that it's the best thing for children? If you guessed zero, you are correct. Within the racial justice movement that DEI promotes, how often will you hear about abortion's history of aborting the black community? If you guessed never, you win the prize. How many Christian colleges have DEI officers who are willing, ready, and able to say that while we should treat all people with respect, homosexuality is a sin? How many Christian schools that promote DEI are even saying a word about the horrors of the transgender movement, the drugging and mutilation of confused children?

Diversity, equity, and inclusion didn't pop up out of nowhere, and it certainly didn't come from the church or the Scriptures. It's more than time to do a deep dive into its ideology, for its the theological card that trumps biblical truth, every time. And it's the new religion, even for some who remain in the pews and wish to convert others.

And in such a situation, we have to speak the truth boldly. Ask your DEI friends if they are willing to speak out against all abortion, and call out abortions being pushed on the black communities. Ask them if they are willing to protest with you outside of a gender clinic, if they will help save our children from the gender madness. And since the breakdown of family is a far greater indicator of well being and human thriving than any other factor including race, ask them if they would like to co-sponsor talks about natural marriage. Perhaps we might ask how we might promote the wisdom of Proverbs, including the virtue of hard work, which changes so much. If not, well, then you know you don't have anything to work with, for it's another religion entirely.

The Rev. Dr. Peter Scaer is chairman and professor of Exegetical Theology and director of the M.A. program at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Be Informed

“A husband and wife become an image of Christ and the Church. They are also an extension of God’s work of creation.” The Rev. Dr. Peter Scaer explains.

 Be Equipped

“The message for Christians from the Word of God is that marriage is not whatever we
choose to make of it. It is what God has made it to be.” Rev. Richard Eyer talks about what marriage truly is.

Be Encouraged

The thought ‘What will my friends say or think of me?’ nips many a good inclination in the bud . . . Be of good courage. Care not for what the world says or thinks: you will not be with the world always. . . . Call to your mind the saying . . . “I fear God, and therefore I have none else to fear.”
